I first started running after I graduated in May 2016, before I started graduate school. I was very overweight (just tipping the line into the “obese” BMI range), and I was unhappy with how I looked and felt. For as long as I can remember, my mom has been a runner. I decided it was finally time for me to give it a shot. I started the Couch to 5k program in May 2016 along with tracking my caloric intake. I ended up losing about 75 lbs from my highest weight, and discovered a deep passion for running. Since finishing my first 5k in August of 2016, I’ve run multiple 5ks, 10ks, half marathons, marathons, and ultramarathons.
