Growing up, I was the least athletically motivated child. I hated anything that involved getting sweaty and dirty. That all changed in college when the desire to lose the Freshman 15 lead me to a Couch to 5k training plan. I started running three days a week to get and stay in shape. For some crazy reason, I stuck with it and learned to love running.
Fast forward to the present, I have completed two marathons and am registered to run a third. I try to keep my race goals simple and always focus on finishing the race strong, rather than pushing for a PR.
