I started running by training for the 2015 Chicago marathon. I had a blast, so I just kept training, and here we are today. I'm not running quite as many races as I used to now (focusing on quality over quantity) but my primary long-term goal for the sport is still to run a good marathon. Last year I decided to try to work on the fundamentals by training for a mile on the track, and I've slowly been working my way back up to taking another crack at a full marathon. Right now the plan is for that to happen this fall, and I'm already looking forward to it.
