I laced up my first pair of running shoes at the age of 49 and I haven't stopped since. I really didn't feel like I could be a runner. I showed up at a local 5K to support some friends and just kept going. Those 5K's turned into 10K's into half marathons and even some fulls. In fact last year I ran 3 in 70 days to qualify for Marathon Maniacs. I may not be the fastest runner, but I keep showing up and setting new goals for myself. In the fall of 2019 I hope to complete my first ultra marathon.
I try to be a motivator for this crazy sport and inspire in any way I can. I am on the board of my local running club, am now a certified long distance running coach through RRCA and am leading a group of runners from the couch to a 5 mile race.
My running mantra is run happy, run strong, just run.
